Blueberry Muffins

This is your Friday recipe on Thursday.  Our little family from Kansas will be here on Friday.  I just love having our three  little people visit, we enjoy their parents too.

This muffin recipe is vegan and easy.

2 Cups whole wheat flour

1 Heaping TBS Soy Powder or Flour

1/3 Cup Sugar, add 1-2 TB more

1 TBS Baking Powder

1/2 tsp. Salt

1 1/2 Cup Soy Milk

1/3 Cup Oil

1 Cup Blueberries frozen or fresh( I add more)

I love to put walnut halves in mine but the original recipe does not call for them.  I add about 3/4 Cup walnuts.

Mix dry ingredients, add oil and milk and stir just enough to mix and add blueberries last.

Bake 400 degrees for 20 minutes

Hope you enjoy these easy and yummy muffins.

Still Another L.O.L

You already know I love a bargain and yesterday was a great day for a good bargain.  Before I left home, I knew I was  about to enter the doors of Walgreen’s or CVS, I could feel the excitement building.  I don’t have a Spiritual application from this except I wish I had this same feeling when it is time to sit down and open my Bible.  I am going to pray about that.

Here is what I brought yesterday at Walgreen’s: Rembrandt Toothpaste, $5.99  and received a $6.00 Register Reward (same as cash but has to be used at Walgreen’s), Bayer Quick Release Crystals, $2.49 and I had a $1.00 coupon that I found on the display at the store, I got $2.50 back in RR’s (Register Rewards), Ecotrin 81mg, 45 count, $2.00 and I got back $2.00 in RR’s.  Get this, when I opened the box there was a $2.00 coupon on the inside so when I take this to the store I will make $2.00 on my Ecotrin deal.  Nivea Body Wash, $4.99, I had a $1.00 coupon and got back $5.00 so I made $1.01.  I had a lot of RR’s from last week so I paid very little out of pocket and I have all of these products and  lots of RR’s to spend.  I must warn you don’t use the RR’s on the same item, you won’t get another.  In other words, don’t use your $2.00 from Ecotrin to buy another Ecotrin, use it to buy Bayers.  I must also add, always be honest, if the  advertisement  says one per person that means you can only buy one–that’s it only one.

I have given many items away either to friends or to The Good Neighbor Center or to Bags of Love.  This is a fun hobby that helps me and helps others too.

Can You Imagine?

Can you imagine what kind of  woman  person we would be if every act and attitude were formulated from the heart of God?  It’s impossible for me to even totally imagine it.  Just think of the significance this kind of spiritual experience could be to every person and circumstance we come in contact with.

The one thing I am positive about is we must pursue God and persist in prayer.  I really want to be filled by the Holy Spirit.

Brennan Manning, in The Ragamuffin Gospel, says: The Holy Spirit’s power cannot be harnessed.  his power cannot be used to accomplish anything other than the Father’s will.  He is not a candy dispenser.  He is not a vending machine.  He is not a genie waiting for someone to rub His lamp the right way.  He is holy God.

Here is Your Friday Recipe

Evaporated milk can be replaced by Silk Creamer.  I must admit we have not tried replacing the eggs yet, but would like to try tofu or cornstarch to replace the eggs and yet to bind the patties.

Wheat Germ Patties

1 1/4 Cup Wheat Germ

1 Cup Quick Oatmeal

1 Pkg. dry yeast in 1/4 warm water

1/2 Cup chopped Walnuts

4 Tbs. Soy Sauce

1 teasp. Salt

1/2 teasp. Sage

1 teasp. Garlic Salt

1 Medium onion chopped fine

2 Eggs

1 Large can evaporated milk 14 oz.

Mix and form patties, brown in oil and put in 9x 13 baking dish and cover with your favorite gravy, I like mushroom soup gravy.  Bake 30-45 min. at 350 degrees.

Is Satan Real?

On Easter weekend Bob and I traveled to visit our little family in Kansas.  Our goal was to reach our destination by 6:45 p.m. because we wanted to see an Easter program.  We arrived to a full church and they were turning people away but we knew we had seats saved for us so we begged to be allowed to park and go in.

The pageant was amazing, and it was so touching and so real.  The thing that really still haunts me is Satan.  Satan was played by a man in black with a black cape, he was very thin and always had a cunning smile on his face, but that isn’t the haunting part.  The fact that Satan was always lurking around each and every scene made a big impression on me.

I honestly think we  don’t give enough credit to Satan and what he is doing to us, what he loves to do to us. We don’t realize he is lurking around  just looking for the opportunity to wreck havoc in our life.  Especially each time we take another step towards a relationship with Jesus.   I want to tell you he is real and he is busy.  He loves to help us make a mess out of our life but he is so sneaky.  We must guard our homes, our children,  our marriages and our honesty because Satan is longing to make a mess of the Christian life and home.

When Satan fell from heaven he claimed this earth as his and he has been running to and fro from that day until now.  Our relationship with Jesus is what will carry us through. Be on guard my friends, keep Jesus close and pray often, we must keep Satan away.  Consider walking around your home and praying, walk into every room and pray ask Jesus to protect your home and family from Satan.

Are You Wondering?

Have you  even given any thought to my study on prayer?  Are you wondering how well I am doing?  So far my thoughts are running along these lines; John 10:1-5 tells the story of the lost sheep, I love this story and there are so many thoughts and sermons to be had from the lost sheep.  Here’s  what I’m discovering, when the sheep heard the voice of their shepherd they responded!  Why did they respond. . . . . because they KNEW the voice of the one they had spent so much time with. I know this is not profound but I like the idea. My prayer is I will know Jesus as well has the lambs knew their shepherds voice.

I just heard a sermon by David Smith on hearing God’s calling and I have to say if I don’t know the Shepherd’s voice will I recognize His call?  Will I know if the One calling me is the Shepherd?

I know we don’t pray for God we pray for us, it is to our benefit to pray because it is one way to know the Shepherd.

Prayer brings a response from God, the response may be yes or it may be no or it may be an answer later.  When the answer is no He gives a reason for the no (in time).  Think about Moses and David both men knew exactly why they were unable to fulfill their biggest desire.

Here is the hard part for me, I found my self praying this week about buying some chairs.  I actually asked God what He thought but then I forgot to wait for the answer, I jumped ahead and bought the chairs.  I don’t know if God liked the idea or not, I didn’t give Him time to answer, not because I didn’t want to wait I plain forgot to wait.

So you can see I have a long way to go, but the study on prayer is a good one and I am looking forward to growing in my prayer life.
