Dallas. . .

God is good and we are almost ready for the 2,000 ladies who are coming to Free Indeed.  Wish each of you could be here, it’s going to be uplifting, I just know it is.

I wanted to give you a picture or two but that will have to wait my computer does not read my camera card.  I sound like a techie don’t I?  That’s the problem I’m not.

Yesterday we stuffed 2300 bags for registration, 400 lunch bags for the ladies going out on outreach.  I walked around a table from 8:30 am until 7:30 pm with a break for lunch and dinner.  I slept like a log.

I know what you are wondering–what about my eating plan?  Yesterday we had pizza for lunch–I on the other hand went to the Terrace Grill and had a salad.  I know, I am patting myself on the back too.  You know what?  When I stared at all that crust I didn’t want it–hummmmm crust use to be my favorite part.  I will tell you we went to a place called Eatzies, it is a gourmet deli and my “friend” LOL  “made” me eat CHOCOLATE CAKE this was my first sweet since May 15, except for the Cinnamon roll I told you about.  It was FABOO.

I can feel the presence of Jesus in this place, I know great things will happen here.  Satan has worked hard to put obstacles on the way but our Lord is strong and He wants this convention to make a difference in each woman here. Please pray for FREE INDEED, pray for the speakers and the ladies who attend, we want to come from this place changed.

I Have to Share . . .

Oh there is excitement in the air. . .the convention is just a week away and we are all just busy and excited.  Please pray for the ladies who are the speakers and for the ladies attending, we must wake up and get excited about Jesus.

Here is what I wanted to tell you–down TWO pounds–making a grand total of 35 pounds.  That means I have 13 pounds to go to reach my goal of. . .oh you thought I was going to tell you didn’t you?  You know me I am an open book and I will tell you but you have to keep checking and when I reach the goal I will reveal where I started and my goal weight.

Do you have some goals?  How about this one, spend time with Jesus every day?  Or, drink 8 ounces of water each day, or walk 8,000 steps 3 times a week.  Set some goals friends, how about this one save some money this month? I would love to hear about your goals.

One last thing, have you gone to sdaforme.org yet, it is a great blog I think you will like it.

This and That Again. . .

Have you noticed the days just fly by?  Or is it just me?  I don’t know where the time goes and the older I get the faster it goes.  Why is that?  You would think the older one gets the slower time would go.  Maybe you have to get really, really old for that to happen.

I have many things to tell you so as my teacher use to say, “Listen up.”

Don’t eat partially hydrogenated shortening or high fructose corn syrup they are both really bad for you.  Read your labels.  Please

My weight is slow going but I am not discouraged.  If you need to shed a few pounds you could  start in with me.  I still have 15 pounds to go so we could do it together.  I have noticed my mind is clearer since I am not eating junk food and I have a lot more energy, and I have a lot more wrinkles.

I am leaving town headed for Colorado to do a tea in Wyoming, I am the speaker.  I am doing my favorite talk, “Silver Boxes.”  From Wyoming I will be going to Dallas for the Free Indeed Convention.  I am telling you this because you won’t be hearing much from me.  I will try to get a few pictures and post from time to time.  If you want to read the blog try reading some old posts.

Please pray for my special friend Freddie, he has finally landed a temporary job that could turn into full-time.  He will have his last chemo treatment in a little while and he is thrilled to have this job opportunity.  Pray for his health and his job.

Here is your Thursday Recipe. . . these are one of my favorites I use to make them all the time.

Corn flake Potatoes

Boil potatoes with the jacket on and peel, if they are large you can cut them to a smaller size.  Roll them in butter then in crushed corn flake crumbs.  You can do this a day ahead.   Bake on a cookie sheet until hot at 350.  They are so good and you may want to serve them with sour cream.

Baby Cakes. . .

 cookbook 001

This is my new cookbook!  It is vegan and uses some odd ingredients but healthy ones.  I can’t wait to bake something, but who’s going to eat it? Speaking of eat, I weighed in today down 1/2 pound, 33 pounds in all.  I’m headed to the Red Clover in a few minutes just to get some ingredients.

LOL I am back from my shopping and I left $89 behind at the store.  Red Clover has good prices but mercy this natural stuff is expensive.  I am leaving town I think I will make a surprise for my man and put it in the freezer.

I wonder, did I need another cookbook when I have all of these?

cookbook 002

I would guess  an extravagance like this will be out of the question when I am fully on the Dave Ramsey plan.  Looking at the bright side, I had the money to pay for it I didn’t have to charge it.  Oh mercy, this Dave Ramsey thing may not be very fun.

Financial Peace University

I think I told you we, my man and I, signed up to attend Financial Peace University.  We have been to our first meeting.

In front of the room they had a jar, some scissors and some cut up credit cards.  Now my man loves his credit cards, not that he over uses them and he always pays them off at the end of every month.  However, he L O V E S the little benefits he gets like 5% for every gas purchase.  I will let you know how that goes, do you think he will cut up his credit cards?

The next thing was, we had to go home and make a simple budget.  We have, and I am ashamed to tell you this, never lived on a budget.  Well I should not say never when we first started out I guess it was a budget, we knew exactly what we could spend or we wouldn’t have enough to pay the rent.

Yesterday we made our simple budget, budgeting in a certain amount to save every month.  As it is now we just save what’s left over, now we are going to save a certain amount every month. Working on a budget we will only spend what is allotted for each item.  For instance, we budgeted $150 a month for entertainment, this includes eating out.  When that’s gone we won’t be eating out until the next month.  Hummmmmmmm wonder how that will go.  We don’t eat out tons I suspect we will have money left over each month.  If we do I wonder what we will do with it?  Just kidding, we will S A V E it.

At the top of our budget, just a Dave Ramsey suggests, we put the amount we will give back to Jesus.  Our whole purpose in attending this seminar is to be able to give more. My man and I are reading the book, Three Cups of Tea, the book makes us want to help others.  It takes such a little amount of money to make a big difference.

PS–Weight–down 2 1/2 pounds finally–that makes 32 1/2 pounds.  It is slow going but it is worth it.  I had to put that in the budget too.  $120 a month is what I think it costs, I know what you’re thinking, no I can’t seem to do it on my own.

My Bible

Well, it’s not really MY Bible, actually I guess it is I paid for it, but it has the name Jason D. Lucero, May 1, 1988 ingraved on the cover.  I paid .99 for it at the second hand store, you already know I like bargains.  I have to say most every time I pick it up I wonder about Jason Lucero, did he just not want a Bible any longer, did he pass away, did he misplace it and forgot to take it with him.

Never the less I really like mine and Jason’s Bible, it’s a study Bible.  A study Bible has the Bible verses about half way down the page and the rest tells me what I just read.  It helps me make sense out of my reading.

Lately I have been reading in Romans, that’s way you have not heard much about my reading.  I don’t understand it enough to write about it. Listen to this:  Romans 5:1 ” Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.”  I get this, Jesus saves, what I don’t get is why don’t we act like it.  Why don’t we have the joy on our faces that other Christians have?  If you have an answer for me I would love to have you comment.  It perplexes me and I don’t like it, I want every one of us to feel the joy that comes from knowing Jesus and knowing we have peace through Him.

I wonder if Jason Lucero knew the peace that comes from Jesus or did he just give up.

Busier Than a Cranberry Merchant

Have you ever heard the saying, “Busier Than a Cranberry Merchant?”  My mom had some very funny sayings I wish I had written them down.  It’s too late.

Free Indeed, the women’s ministries convention being held in Dallas in just two weeks is keeping me busy.  There will be over 2,000 women gathered to praise the Lord and to learn about being free in Christ.

Weight?  Are you wondering about my weight? I am still on the program the last two times I have weighed I have stayed the same.  Staying the same is not bad, I did have my family here, I made cookies, brownies and had chips in the house.  Ice Cream, oh yes, we bought two kinds of ice cream and M & M’s to put in the cookies.  So all in all staying the same was okay.

Your Thursday recipe is an easy one and just in time for the wonderful Colorado peaches I found in the store yesterday.

Peach Pie

Make your favorite crust and bake it!!

For the filling:

1 Cup Water

1 Cup Sugar

2 Tbs. Cornstarch

Boil until thick and add 5 Tbs. Peach Jello and cool put 5 or more peaches in the crust and pour filling over the peaches while it is still able to pour.

Yum sounds good!  Can you believe I had to make bread again, those little grands love homemade bread and so do the big people.  It’s not like they don’t get it at home because they do.
