A Life Worth Living by Nancy Buxton

Only 34. . .

Yesterday I saw something on television that made me stop and think.  It was Jackie Kennedy sitting in front of  a camera telling the world thank you for their kindness.  She received thousands of telegrams and letters from all over the world.  Jackie was only 34 years old.

I think I was about 16 or 17 when the tragedy of JFK happened but I can sure remember where I was when I heard the news.  Until yesterday I didn’t realize how really young Jackie was.  LOL that’s probably because to a 17-year-old someone 34 seems pretty old.

Maybe because it is cloudy and cold this morning or perhaps it is because I have just had a birthday but whatever it is it causes me to ponder. Again!  What does my life stand for?

A couple of days ago Bob told me that he had a dream that he had just been elected VP.  I asked him VP of what?  His reply, “of the United States of America, of course”  We had a good laugh–I don’t know why we laughed, he would make a great VP.  I guess he just wasn’t in the right place at the right time and didn’t know the right people.

Is that a good reason?  He didn’t know the right people!  I don’t think so–we know Jesus of the Universe.  He made each of us special and He made us special enough that we can do great things.

If you want to see something inspiring watch the movie Blind Side–it is the first movie I have ever watched that I want to buy.  I hate seeing the same move twice and yet I plan to see this one again.  It is inspiring.  It shows what a difference we can make in someone’s life.  The movie made me want to be a better person.  It is a true story of a white family who took a black young man into their family.  They loved him and provided for him.  They fought for him, they made a difference.

I may have rambled a little this morning but my heart is in the right place.  Don’t judge me, just know that there are all kinds of thoughts zipping through my head and I had to share a few with you.
